National Highways have an excellent opportunity for an Advisor to join our Road Safety Division in Safety, Engineering and Standards (SES). The Advisor willcarry out assigned work to develop and implement policies, standards, operating procedures and best practices and provide technical advice and guidance in road safety. The role brings together technical understanding and research to develop answers to key policy questions, designed to give the business an intelligence-led approach to reduce casualties on the Strategic Road Network (SRN). It involves a significant amount of internal and external stakeholder engagement in developing policy and in coordinating its successful implementation.
Within a Safe System context, you can expect to work collaboratively across the Road Safety Division, wider organisation and with our extensive network of stakeholders and delivery partners.
Please note that this role can be based from any of our UK offices but regular travel to Birmingham to attend monthly team meetings will be required.
Deliver projects on behalf of the team both internally and with external contractors, following the guidance provided by the current framework to ensure projects are managed appropriately.
Contribute to the preparation, review and quality assurance of technical documentation, presentations, and papers to ensure that they are fit for purpose.
Support senior colleagues in representing National Highways on committees, steering groups and at conferences, seminars and workshops, to contribute to the development of safety programmes, to ensure that National Highways views are appropriately represented and to enhance our reputation.
Ability to understand and communicate key road safety concepts such as Safe System, and/or other public health or risk management concepts.
Capable of working with a range of suppliers and stakeholders to engage their input to the delivery of project objectives & in developing effective long-term working relationships.
A relevant qualification and/or evidence of relevant professional development.

We are responsible for working across the business and with key external stakeholders to develop, agree, and ensure the implementation of, an evidence-based roadmap for achieving our road safety vision.
