Role: Head of Architecture

Salary: Up to £100k + market leading pension + package

Are you looking for a role that will give you the opportunity to shape the technical direction of a crucial public sector organisation? If so, then this may well be the role for you.

This role will involve leading a growing team of Architects, driving the technical direction of the organisation and implementing a new architectural approach/framework. This exciting opportunity will give you the chance to lead from the front and interact with stakeholders from right across an organisation that makes a real difference to peoples lives. This role would suit someone who has a strong understanding of both technical and business architecture and how to maximise outcomes in both areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the long-term enterprise IT strategy and IT product roadmap, including application platforms and IT infrastructure, ensuring scalability and adaptability to the organisations changing needs.
  • Work with senior business stakeholders, change management and technology colleagues to develop business strategy and IT strategy.
  • Ensure Business, Data, Change and Technology alignment through a collaborative, supportive and consultative manner to translate and execute business strategy to achieve desired business outcomes.
  • Establish standards for architectural involvement and governance within an agile environment.
  • Establish and Chair Technology governance groups to oversee the architectural and technical choices and approve any changes or exceptions to the agreed standards.
  • Periodically provide assurance to the Board that the IT architecture is well designed, aligns to the business strategy and industry best practice.

Required qualifications/experience

  • Proven experience in a Chief Architect / Head of Architecture role.
  • Experience of leading teams of Architects (Solutions and Enterprise).
  • Experience of both technical and business architecture.
  • Demonstrable track record in presenting technology-based proposals and designs to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in setting up and chairing technology assurance groups to oversee the governance of an IT architecture.
  • Proven level of experience of leading and delivering complex change and strategy development programmes in a politically sensitive and complex environment.
