You will use Power BI and Microsoft Fabric to build insightful data and intelligence tools so that public health providers can prioritise caseloads, improve data quality and drive continuous improvement in service quality. Commissioners will rely on your insights to evaluate performance, understand population need and address health inequalities. It is essential that you have knowledge of demographic and health data. You will access a range of service datasets, project, mortality and hospital activity data, always upholding data protection, privacy, and ethical standards. Leading on mortality surveillance and analysis, you’ll establish data collection, data transformations, datasets, and interactive reports. This work is vital to improving outcomes and preventing harm, requiring you to handle sensitive information with professionalism and objectivity. You will take on regular ad-hoc requests and contribute to team projects for a diverse range of customers, providing expert advice and setting clear expectations around data use. This will involve working with service data (such as Public Health Nursing, Drug and Alcohol, NHS Health Checks, Smoking Cessation) and health improvement work (covering things like physical activity, healthy eating, wellbeing and more). You’ll engage thoughtfully with customers and stakeholders to identify needs and propose effective solutions, working independently but with support from your line manager and the wider team. As a key contact for the public health team, you’ll help colleagues understand and use available data tools. In this role you will be designing and refining data collection systems, including surveys, to ensure robust performance reporting and needs analysis. You’ll work closely with frontline staff, providing training and collaborating to enhance data recording processes, always seeking more effective solutions through engagement with the service. Can evidence driving your own personal development and self-directed learning and problem solving. Educated to degree level in statistics or another subject relevant to public health with high statistical content. Have experience using Microsoft Excel, Power Queries and Power BI for analytical purposes, preparation and presentation of data and to have an understanding of relational databases.
