Job Title: We are currently seeking candidate for the position of Professional Services/ or Storage

Engineer in UK. A candidate with good Linux skills who wants to develop storage and/or High Performance Computing skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

• Have a thorough technical understanding of the various DDN product lines so that

deployments can go smoothly. Know where to gain assistance from either the Systems

Engineer or engineering when required. Be prepared to form/lead a Tiger Team with the

required Subject Matter Experts if a challenge is encountered during a deployment.

• Physically install hardware at a customer site. Supervise “smart hands” to do so if appropriate

either on site or remotely.

• Remotely or on site, install, configure and tune software as required by the solution’s design.

• Install, configure, and tune software in system pre-built in our factory prior to them being

shipped to customers.

• Provide technical training for customer installations and prepare reports and other required

customer documentation.

• Preform internal lab solutions (in person or remotely) to set up configurations for new

designs to assure that there is the understanding of how they work.

• Help create hardware and or software documentation as required by the business.

• Teach internal and or customer classes as required by the business.

• Contribute content to the Professional Services related sections of Installation Planning

Guides or Technical Implementation Plans as required by the business.

• Participate in customer-focused seminars, tradeshows, events, and training as required by

the business.

• Manage customer relationship during the deployment phase to ensure the highest caliber

customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Sciences; or

equivalent is required.

Skills and Experience:

• Ability to create system-oriented scripts (e.g. Bash, Python) and/or system-oriented

programming

• Clear communication skills both verbally and written

  • Should get UK Security Clearance

• Ability to listen, understand and articulate creative implementations.

• Ability to lift at up to 23 Kgs.

• Ability to work & participate harmoniously in a small team environment.

Knowledge/Experience:

• Knowledge and/or experience of the storage industry and solutions: RAID controllers, NAS

• Experience with operating systems operations and debugging essentially in Linux

environments; Knowledge of specific Linux kernel subsystems is a plus.

• Experience with Parallel file systems will be added advantage but is not a requirement.

• Knowledge or in-depth experience in file systems operations: local (e.g. ext4, XFS),

distributed (e.g. SMB, NFS), parallel (e.g. lustre)

• Knowledge of compute clusters environment: parallel command execution, job submission

with main market’s batch systems (e.g. SLURM, PBS) will be an advantage but is not a

requirement.

• Knowledge or experience with leading industry networking technologies, e.g. Infiniband,

Ethernet

The primary responsibility for individuals in this position is to deploy hardware and software, configure systems, and tune solutions which have been designed by the pre-sale engineering team. These tasks may be performed remotely or there may be the requirement to perform these tasks by being physically on a customer site. Individuals in this position may be required to remotely supervise partner technicians/engineers while they perform on site hardware installation tasks in order to minimize travel time. Individuals in this position may also be required to remotely connect to systems in DDN integration facility and perform software installation, configuration and tuning prior to the system shipping from the factory.
