Design Engineer

AVA Energy are supporting our client with their search for a highly skilled Gas Turbine Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Derby. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering the full design lifecycle of advanced turbomachinery and other rotating equipment—from concept development through to production release. You’ll work closely with cross-functional engineering teams and play a key technical role in developing next-generation turbine components and systems. Key Responsibilities: Lead and support the mechanical design of gas turbine components and other rotating equipment Generate and develop detailed drawings Perform design calculations, tolerance analysis and engineering studies Collaborate with aerothermal, structural, and manufacturing teams to ensure design integrity Support design reviews, technical discussions and customer presentations Contribute to continuous improvement of design tools, processes and best practices Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical or related Engineering 6+ years’ experience in gas turbine, turbomachinery or rotating equipment design Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, GD&T and mechanical design principles Experience collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams Strong communication skills and ability to work with customers and suppliers Eligibility to work on UK-based engineering programmes
