Purpose

Role Overview: As the Head of Finance, you will be at the helm of our financial operations, guiding Lakeland Arts towards a secure and prosperous future. You will play a crucial role in strategic planning, financial management, and reporting, working closely with our Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Finance Committee.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Financial Strategy:
- Drive the financial strategy for Lakeland Arts to ensure long-term stability.
- Provide comprehensive financial services to support the organisation’s smooth and effective operation.
- Oversee all financial transactions, contracts, banking arrangements, and treasury functions.
Business and Strategic Planning:
- Undertake detailed financial business and strategic planning.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to prepare and present annual budgets, financial plans, scenarios, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Ensure proper management of restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Prepare quarterly financial and operating reports for the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees.
- Report performance against budget, forecast, and prior year, including balance sheets and cash flows.
- Provide detailed reporting on the use of grants and the status of restricted funds.
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
Annual Accounts Preparation:
- Work with accountants and the Finance Manager to prepare annual statutory accounts for Lakeland Arts, Lakeland Arts Trust, and Lakeland Arts Enterprises.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, SORPs, and required accounting practices.
- Liaise with the Leadership Team and Finance Committee as appropriate.
- Manage relations with auditors, making recommendations to the Board about their appointment and fees.
- Continually assess financial risks and implement appropriate risk management systems and business continuity plans.
- Collaborate with the COO and Treasurer to ensure the overall financial strength and integrity of Lakeland Arts.
External Relations:
- Act as the key point of contact for external auditors, HMRC, and other regulatory bodies.
Compliance and Legislation:
- Maintain awareness of and ensure compliance with key developments in UK legislation relating to registered charities and limited companies.
- Attend regular meetings of the Trustees Finance Committee.
- Produce financial and operational reports in advance of meetings.
- Provide the Board and its Committees with advice and assistance as needed.
