AI Workflow Manager Location: UK (Hybrid / Remote) We’re helping a leading software group transform how accountants and payroll professionals work ,through intelligent automation that replaces hours of manual processing with minutes of smart execution. As AI Workflow Manager , you’ll build and lead a new team of graduate AI Engineers (7–10 people), combining technical leadership with hands-on development. This is a true player-coach role: part people management, part engineering delivery. You’ll establish how the team works, its standards, practices, and culture, while building real production workflows using Langflow , Python , and Azure . You’ll set the bar for delivery excellence, grow engineers into confident contributors, and build automation systems that customers depend on every day. What You’ll Do Lead and Develop People (50%) Build and manage a team of graduate AI Engineers, guiding their growth through weekly 1:1s, mentoring, and structured feedback. Define and uphold engineering standards for code quality, documentation, and testing. Break down complex automation projects into clear, achievable delivery goals. Collaborate with the AI Platform team for deeper ML expertise and delivery support. Report progress, risks, and dependencies clearly to leadership. Build Intelligent Systems (50%) Design and deploy workflow automations in Langflow integrating AI capabilities, LLMs, document processing, entity extraction, into stable business systems. Build and maintain production-grade APIs and automation services using Python , PostgreSQL , and Azure . Own system reliability and resilience, ensuring graceful failure, monitoring, and clear alerting. Set the example through your own hands-on contributions, design patterns, and code reviews. What You’ll Bring 3+ years managing engineering teams (7–10 people ideally), with a strong track record of coaching and delivery. 5+ years of professional software engineering in Python , including production workflow tools such as Langflow , Airflow , Prefect , or n8n . Deep understanding of CI/CD, distributed systems, and API integration (OAuth, retries, rate limits). Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs into production systems, pragmatic about what AI can and can’t do. Solid grounding in Git, SQL optimisation, and async architecture. Excellent communicator who values clarity, documentation, and collaboration. Nice to Have Experience with Supabase , Kubernetes , Docker , Azure , GitHub Actions , vector databases , or observability tools like Prometheus , Grafana , and Langfuse . What Success Looks Like 3 months: You’ve established your 1:1 rhythm, shipped your first automation workflow, and built a trusted partnership with the AI Platform team. 6 months: Delivery cadence is predictable, code quality has improved, and your engineers are taking on more complex work. 12 months: Your team has delivered multiple production workflows, built reusable automation patterns, and earned a reputation for quality and reliability.
