We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Regulatory Affairs. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in guiding our clients through the intricate regulatory requirements governing the food industry. As the Head of Regulatory Affairs, you will be responsible for developing strategies to address regulatory challenges, and provide invaluable insights to our clients to ensure their products meet all applicable regulations and standards.

You will be responsible for staying abreast of changes and developments in food regulations and standards globally, and supporting our global teams to ensure our clients are up to date on compliance requirements.
You will be responsible for providing our Expert teams with mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure optimal performance and professional development from a regulatory perspective. You will be responsible for having ‘top table’ discussions with our clients on regulatory issues or queries in order to support the development of their regulatory strategies. Collaborating with clients and internal teams to assess regulatory risks and opportunities, and develop effective solutions to address regulatory challenges.
Provide regulatory support throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept to commercialisation, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Represent the company in interactions with relevant regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to advocate for our clients' interests and stay informed about regulatory developments.
You will have a good understanding of Retailers and Manufacturers and be keen to develop and maintain positive senior client relationships. You will have the ability to risk assess decisions in order to ensure clients’ products are safe and legal without putting them at a commercial disadvantage. The Head of Regulatory plays a critical role in our business and we are looking candidates who have worked in Trading Standards or Environmental Health or in a senior level regulatory or compliance role in a manufacturing or retail environment. You will need to have a deep knowledge of food legislation in the UK and globally, ideally with both food standards and food safety experience.
You will be expected to attend external regulatory events to gather knowledge and raise Ashbury’s profile, speak at internal and external events, actively participate in external regulatory forums and discussion groups and work closely with Marketing to write articles and publications on regulatory topics of relevance to position Ashbury as Regulatory & Technical thought-leaders.
The Head of Regulatory Role:

Accountable for developing and implementing the company’s regulatory management strategy in line with business goals and objectives.
Lead the routine review of the regulatory and technical competency of our Expert teams, putting in place a routine review of the competency standards and establishing training and implementation plans that will enable business growth.
Working with our Technical Controllers to review Knowledge Management and Knowledge Sharing Plans
Responsible for leading, from a regulatory perspective, the development of the company as thought leaders in the industry.
Monitor changes in industry best practice and application, to ensure appropriate standards are set for our technical and regulatory teams.
Representing the company at relevant industry events, including participation at ‘top table’ discussions and industry presentation opportunities on regulatory affairs.
Provide Leadership in discussions with our clients on regulatory issues or queries to support them in driving their regulatory agenda.
The Head of Regulatory Candidate:

Experience in a senior level regulatory or compliance role in a food manufacturing, retailer or compliance consultancy business that operates in multiple markets.
Will have in-depth knowledge of global food legislation. Will have experience with multiple food categories. Additional experience with non-food would be advantageous.
Hold a degree (or equivalent) in food science, food law, regulatory affairs, or similar.
