Role Outline

Engineered Arts designs some of the world’s most advanced humanoid robots . Our designs are super complex with thousands of mechanical parts, electronic circuits, wiring looms and multiple software packages from firmware to local operating systems to cloud services and robot applications, behaviors and general awesomeness.

In our journey of continuous improvement we are looking towards production, sales and support scalability, in addition to the rapid development of new features. Our business systems are key to our future success.

We seek an experienced Business Systems Developer to help integrate our existing systems with Odoo, as well as design, develop and deploy custom systems to help streamline our business processes and build a scalable platform for the exciting next phase in the company's epic journey. This role will lead a development team dedicated to build out and continuously improve these business critical systems.

Our internal motto is ‘Be Wow’. Our robots are certainly Wow, but we strive to make everything we do Wow, including our internal systems - ‘Wow, this is much easier than SAP’, is your Wow moment.

This role can be worked remotely with visits to Falmouth HQ, (at least one multi-day visit every two months)

Responsibilities

  • Being the in-house Odoo expert. Learning and communicating its strengths and limitations
  • Understanding business-wide requirements and refining them into actionable tasks in Jira and elsewhere and monitoring their progress
  • Adopting maintenance of existing business systems software
  • Architecting integrations between off-the-shelf (preferably open-source) software and in-house developed tooling/CI and occasionally Tritium (in-house robot OS and cloud platform)
  • Executing Writing code, documentation, schemas. Testing installed systems.
  • Ensuring continuity of look and feel between all systems with easy to use interfaces
  • Receiving feedback from any and all parts of the company and analyzing suggestions to find great bang-for-buck improvements in every employee's experience.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Key Skills and Experience

Essential

  • In-depth knowledge of database schema design and structure for highly-reliable business systems
  • Working knowledge of Python, front-end web technologies and

Desirable

  • Deep Odoo experience and knowledge, ideally using the Odoo API
  • Working knowledge of Django, React, Docker, Postgres
  • A background in team-leadership and a experiential knowledge of development practices like Scrum/Agile

Useful

  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes and good operations practices in general
  • (open to) a love of GraphQL
  • Interest in robotics
