Construction Project Engineer

We’re seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join our team on the Apollo Substation project near Bridgwater
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in one of our major refurbishment projects, working alongside our Project Manager, Project Director and dedicated project team to ensure safe, sustainable and successful delivery.
Support the Project Manager/Director in planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning, and project handover/close out.
Lead on-site teams, fostering a positive safety culture and ensuring compliance with project requirements, objectives and constraints (time, cost, quality, safety).
Monitor and report on progress, highlighting risks and proposing mitigation measures.
Attend periodic project reviews and meetings.
Maintain accurate project records (progress reports, daily diaries).
Provide data and reports to enable informed, cost-effective decisions in line with strategy.
identify and report risks and hazards.
Log and escalate risks and issues beyond delegated authority.
Manage subcontractors: monitor attendance and progress, provide instruction and support to meet contractual requirements.
Support procurement planning to ensure timely delivery of materials/resources.
Monitor and follow project targets and KPIs.
Contribute to continuous improvement workshops.
Help develop and update resource-loaded schedules.
Implement productivity and project controls techniques.
Maintain awareness of project cost, budget and commercial impact.
Escalate commercial changes and requisition plant and materials as required.
Maintain Balfour Beatty Digital Group Minimum Standards.
Use and promote digital tools appropriately and ensure team training
The Following Qualities/experience Are Desirable
Experience in managing risks and change processes
Proficient in commercial/project management communications
Able to undertake work in high pressure situations with a flexible attitude
Demonstrate awareness and support of the benefits of diversity and inclusion
Holds or working towards a formal qualification in construction/engineering or equivalent industry experience
Holds CSCS and SSSTS or equivalent
