The Senior Estimator is responsible for the overall project estimate while providing leadership, training, and mentoring for their team under the Preconstruction Manager. Works with clients, architects/engineers, subcontractors/ suppliers to plan cost factors for construction projects; analyzes construction documents, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects by performing the following duties. This is a remote position with travel as needed.
Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for planning, organizing, and scheduling work;
Prepare bids, select vendors or subcontractors and determine cost effectiveness.
Compile, gain approval for, and carry out estimating project approach. Implement quality control measures to ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates.
Solicit subcontractor and supplier bids and interface with their representatives to receive responsive bids prior to bid letting.
Scope and tabulate subcontractor and supplier bids for conformance with bid documents.
Reconcile quantity surveys with consultants and design team
Manage preconstruction efforts on assigned projects. Coordinate the efforts of the design team on design-build projects.
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent; 10-15 years related experience and/or training; 8+ years of commercial retail construction experience, with a combination of project management and estimating experience with a minimum of 5 years of full-time estimating.
Experience auditing the completeness and accuracy of other team members take-offs, estimates, and proposals.
Full understanding of commercial and retail construction means and methods.
Initiative, skill, and commitment to manage multiple projects and details, follow up, and complete tasks and projects on time.
