About You

We are looking for a dynamic Learner & Employer Engagement Officer to develop and maintain a thriving network across Leeds and Doncaster, coordinating valuable work placements and providing tailored guidance to our learners. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring learners gain essential workplace experience and are well-prepared for their future careers.
To succeed in this role, you will be adept at establishing meaningful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including employers, learners, and parents/carers. Your ability to engage and connect will directly contribute to maximising learner development and enhancing their employability prospects.
What We're Looking For:Ideally, you will hold a Level 4 Advice and Guidance qualification or a relevant learning support qualification. More importantly, you will bring hands-on experience and expertise in the following areas:
- Supporting learners in an educational or training environment.
- Delivering guidance to young people and adults facing barriers to success.
- Building professional and supportive relationships with learners, employers, and partner agencies.
- Mentoring or coaching individuals to achieve educational and employment goals.
- Managing challenging behaviour and inspiring young people to engage in learning and work experience opportunities.
- Setting SMART targets and effectively recording and monitoring individual support plans.
- Planning and delivering engaging sessions and activities that foster personal, social, and employability skills.
About the Role
As a Learner & Employer Engagement Officer, you will provide tailored support and guidance to young people and adults enrolled in Central YMCA programmes. Your primary focus will be to facilitate meaningful work placements that enhance employability skills and career progression opportunities.
Working collaboratively with programme tutors, learner support mentors, and external agencies, you will ensure that learners receive the best possible support and access to employment opportunities. You will also assist learners in identifying, securing, and benefiting from work placements that align with their career aspirations, further education, or training goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish and maintain strong links with local employers to secure work placements for learners.
- Provide individualised support to help learners develop the confidence and skills needed for the workplace.
- Work closely with colleagues and external agencies to ensure learners receive timely and effective support.
- Guide learners in planning their next steps, whether in further education, training, or employment.
This role involves daily contact with learners and is classed as regulated activity relevant to children. As such, you will play a key role in safeguarding their welfare.
All staff and volunteers are responsible for promoting and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Our Safeguarding Policy is available on the Central YMCA website.
