About US

We are Clearview, a leading supplier of machine vision systems, components, solutions, and services. We supply Machine Vision components and systems to automate processes and essentially allow computers to see. These Machine Vision systems are used in a significant number of industries with multiple applications.

We have offices in France, Germany, Spain and the UK and we work with customers throughout Europe. We’re proud to have long-standing partnerships with some of the leading global manufacturers within the Machine Vision industry.

We are growing and have ambitious growth targets. We need great people to make this happen. We have an open, collaborative and reflective culture. We encourage autonomy, personal development and creativity. We thrive on accountability and celebrating success as we continue to grow.

About the Role:

The Applications Engineering team is accountable for supporting Clearview’s Sales team and customers throughout the entire Pre- and Post- Sales process; from building demo and prototype systems, training customers on our wide range of products and designing and commissioning our vision solutions.

Reporting to the Applications Engineering Manager, the Applications Engineer is responsible for bringing engineering happiness to life by acting as a first point of contact for our valued UK customers when they require in-depth technical assistance. This role will also play an integral part in our UK sales process by supporting the Sales Team with all areas of the Pre-Sales process (feasibility studies, site visits, technical proposals etc.).

The ideal person would be able to:

  • Work in a cross-functional engineering team to conceptualize, design, prototype and deploy machine vision solutions for industries such as food & beverage, automotive, machinery, pharma, medical, traffic control and others
  • Provide pre and post sales technical support
  • Specify machine vision hardware to be used in the applications, such as cameras, optical and lighting products
  • Provide in-depth technical support to our systems and OEM customers
  • Perform customer-premises installation, commissioning, and training of our systems
  • Strive to learn about current and new products, and how they can add value, as well as be integrated into current or future projects: cost savings, technical advantages, new techniques.
  • Participate in a collaborative and agile engineering culture by engaging in peer-to-peer feedback, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Gain hands-on experience with a wide range of machine vision and industrial automation hardware
  • Develop skills and knowledge that are applicable across a wide range of engineering fields

About you

Here are some of the attributes and experience we believe you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Graduate in a STEM field preferably in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electronics or Computer Science. MEng is a plus.
  • Approximately 2 years of experience as an Applications Engineer in machine vision or similar industry, with hands on experience in industrial automation technologies (e.g., PLCs, sensors, industrial robots, cobots, motion control)
  • Understanding of machine vision hardware: cameras, lighting, optics and control systems
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Practical experience with Electrical systems or components is essential
  • Knowledge of software development, ideally in C#, Python or C++
  • Experience with computer vision frameworks (e.g., Matrox, Cognex, OpenCV)
  • Experience in project engineering within the industrial automation sector, preferably with focus on machine vision applications

What can we offer you?

There’s a birthday bonus, 30 days holiday (plus the opportunity to purchase up to 5 more) and we offer competitive salaries. Based at our UK HQ, we believe in a hybrid working model, giving you the support you need to do well at work, and the flexibility to make life work for you.

At Clearview, we foster a work environment that is inclusive as well as diverse, where our people can be themselves. Applications are encouraged from everyone; we treat all applications equally, recruiting based on skills and experience.
