Your new company
Our client is a highly professional company based in the centre of Oxford. It has seen significant growth over the last 10 years and, as a result, is looking to recruit a technically strong accountant into the Head of Finance role. Your new roleReporting to the Finance Director, you will manage a small team of 3-4 direct reports, ensuring the delivery of high-quality management information and internal financial reporting. You will oversee preparation and review of all external financial reporting for the company and all subsidiaries, ensuring consistency of disclosures and reflecting regulatory updates and developments in line with industry guidance and best practice. This role will take responsibility for all compliance with all regulatory financial reporting, accounting and tax.
You will take the lead in reviewing accounting judgements and estimates, providing technical accounting expertise to guide on treatment and preparing papers to document conclusions. As well as overseeing the preparation of valuations, reviews and challenges valuations prepared by third party managers and coordinating preparation of papers for internal review, you will lead best practice in all aspects of financial control and ensure compliance with all relevant tax legislation for the company and all subsidiaries.
As Head of Finance, you will coordinate the preparation for interim and year-end audits, ensuring accuracy, clarity and consistency across all audit working files and manage an effective relationship with external auditors, ensuring adherence to agreed timetables with minimal disruption across the business, responding appropriately to audit queries and points raised.
Risk management is an integral part of this role, and you will act as secretary to the Audit & Risk Management Committee. What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with recent experience working in audit or similar in-house role. You will have experience of managing a team and have a strong attention to detail with exceptional verbal and written communication skills. It is essential that you have the ability to manage a high volume of work with conflicting priorities and deadlines and be able to work independently. Financial services experience would be highly beneficial. What you'll get in return
