London, United Kingdom The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea Council Full time

Help us improve our air quality

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is a vibrant place to live and work. Within the Council, we put residents and businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership to provide quality services that are responsive, efficient, and effective. We want to be the best council and are committed to protecting public health and the wider environment by improving air and land quality.

The Role:

It will span the main two areas of work that the Pollution Regulatory Team deals with, namely air quality and contaminated land.

You will be required to organise and allocate, and in many cases, deal with planning and other enquiries and respond to requests for information, using GIS, about previous land uses that may have the potential to have caused contamination. Alongside this you will also assist with implementing the Council’s Air Quality Action Plan which will include working with schools to encourage proactive measures that reduce children’s exposure to high levels of pollution. You will also assist the team in engaging the community in and promoting air quality issues.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information

About You:

You will be educated with a relevant degree, with experience of delivering air quality related improvement projects and be committed to a career in pollution control. An understanding of issues relating to land contamination is also important. Competent IT skills, including GIS and the ability to learn quickly and approach tasks in a systematic way are essential. We are also looking for someone who is technically accurate and pays attention to detail.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
