About the Role
The role of the research assistant is to provide technical support to the UKCTOCS and other biomarker research projects to enable members of Pancreatic Biomarker group to efficiently carry out their studies. The successful candidate will undertake research investigations under the supervision of the Principal Investigators, Prof Tatjana Crnogorac-Jurcevic and Dr Oleg Blyuss.
About You
The candidate should have a BSc in a biological, biomedical or closely related field. Previous work experience in a biomedical research laboratory using/processing human samples, particularly blood and urine is essential. Experience in biomarker translational studies are advantageous. Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work efficiently and accurately are required, as well as be flexible and co-operative, with good communication skills.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) is a Cancer Research UK Centre of Excellence whose work aims to transform the lives of those with and at risk of cancer through innovative research in the laboratory, in patients and in populations. It is one of six institutes within The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD) BCI is internationally renowned in many areas of cancer research and it combines ground-breaking basic research with the expertise of clinicians and clinician scientists from the Centre for Experimental Cancer Medicine and the Barts NHS Trust to achieve improvements in cancer patient care. BCI is also a partner in the CRUK City of London Major Centre (together with UCL, Kings and the Francis Crick Institute) which is a Centre of Excellence in Biotherapeutics.
This project entails analysing the Olink proteomics data obtained through analysis of UKCTOCS blood samples, and selection and validation of potential novel candidates for early detection of pancreatic cancer.
