Role: Head of Data Engineering

Our client is seeking a driven and proficient Head of Data Engineering to become part of their tech team. The perfect fit would possess solid expertise in data engineering, software development, and database administration. Your role will involve crafting, building, and managing data pipelines, databases, and applications to ensure seamless data storage, retrieval, and analysis.

Develop, maintain, and scale data pipelines for ETL processes, ensuring efficient extraction, transformation, and loading of data from diverse sources.
Manage databases, including schema design, indexing, and optimization, while upholding data integrity and security.
Integrate data pipelines and databases with applications, collaborating closely with software developers to ensure seamless interaction.
Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure accuracy and consistency, resolving anomalies promptly.
Identify and address performance bottlenecks in data processing and retrieval, continuously optimizing efficiency.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of data processes, schemas, and APIs, and generate reports for stakeholders.
Implement data security measures, access control, and encryption, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.

12+ years data engineering experience, including 5+ years in leadership.
~ Proven data engineering, ETL, and database management experience.
~ Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala.
~ Strong SQL and NoSQL database skills.
~ Familiarity with data warehousing and modeling.
~ Experience with data integration tools.
~ Knowledge of data quality assurance and governance.
~ Bachelor's in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related (Master's preferred).
~ Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP), big data tech (Hadoop, Spark), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), DevOps and CI/CD understanding.
