A highly collaborative team of Product Managers, Customer Experience and Product Engineering focuses on creating business and customer value driven by real-time analytics alongside our traditional products. We need you to support our growth and help us shape the future technology for our forecasting businesses and economic modelling tools and systems.
Partner with senior EI stakeholders across product, technology and commercial teams to formulate the combined product and technology strategy for the EIU, and secondarily to engage with technology and product leaders across The Economist Group to optimize overall group performance and create an appropriately aligned technology strategy.
# Provide BOTH strategic and hands-on technical leadership to the EIU engineering teams.
# Supervise system infrastructure, architecture to ensure operational excellence and adherence to regulatory standards and compliance.
# Enforce software engineering best practices - Source Control, Code Reviews, test Automation, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery.
# Take technical responsibility for all stages in the software development life-cycle. Develop reusable, testable, maintainable and modular code on web and data platforms.
# Set team-based standards for programming tools and techniques, advise on their application and ensure implementation.

10 to 15 years of professional experience, preferably leading teams developing B2B data forecasting and/or information products syndicating data to thousands of customers.
~5 to 10 years of experience managing engineering teams, ideally with team sizes of 20-50.
~ Experience leading web and back-end systems development teams.
~ Experience recruiting and managing multiple teams of enthusiastic, experienced engineers on large scale projects and geographically diverse locations.
~ Extensive experience with content management systems, content delivery networks and developing on public cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
~ Strong business acumen, relationship building, and communication skills.
