Electrical Project Engineer – EV Charging – UK (Remote) – £40k to £45k

One of my key clients who operate in the EV Charging space are looking for an Electrical Project Engineer to be responsible for overseeing engineering projects from conception to completion. This role requires someone who comes from a technical engineering background preferably as an Electrical Engineer and can be the man in the middle between the construction and design team.

Role: Electrical Project Engineer

Salary: £40k to £45k

WFH with occasional travel

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete site-specific electrical designs.
  • Review both internal and external drawings and designs.
  • Ensure all projects comply with health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team as needed.
  • Attend and contribute to project meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Network Development team to ensure appropriate design considerations at the initial proposal stage, preventing significant changes later in the project.
  • Create and maintain a Design Standard Operating Procedure to standardize all drawing types.
  • Manage the workload and training standards of AutoCAD technicians.
  • Conduct regular drawing reviews, provide feedback, and sign off on detailed drawings.
  • Ensure that team-delivered designs are technically accurate, cost-effective, risk-aware, and compliant with all legal requirements.
  • Produce construction-level drawings.
  • Liaise with the Electrical Engineer on electrical design elements.

Key Skills:

  • Excellent ability to communicate orally and in writing at all levels in the organisation
  • Able to work under pressure and make important decisions
  • Electrical engineering experience is essential
  • Design experience is ideal
  • Battery industry experience preferred
  • Excellent administration and co-ordination skills to ensure drawings are controlled
  • Strong motivation to deliver with a well-organised and structured approach
  • Ability to work autonomously but aware of when to escalate situations
  • Team player who actively seeks out continuous improvement
  • Design Management experience preferred
  • Very high standard of CAD capability
  • Experience, or good understanding, of the requirements of EV charging installation
  • Experience with DNO’s
  • Right to work in the UK
