Our client is a prominent chemical company, specialising in the production and distribution of acetic acid and its derivatives. Renowned for its innovative solutions, our client plays a crucial role in various sectors, including chemicals, plastics, pharmaceuticals, and textiles. With a commitment to excellence, the company continuously strives to meet global demand while maintaining a discreet yet influential presence in the chemical industry.

Responsibilities

• Work with permit signatories on a daily basis to discuss and prepare permit requests, method statements and risk assessments.

• Regularly liaise with other trade disciplines and also the supervisors for scaffolding and lagging, when they are required to support specific jobs. This often necessitates coordination of their work and permit requirements.

• Practising of Preventative Maintenance and use of specialised equipment

• Responsible for the maintenance of safety critical equipment used in the detection of toxic, flammable gases that may cause harm to personnel, plant or equipment if left undetected.

• The ability to repair and maintain, calibrate, inspect and modify process analysers and sample systems including NIR and GC as well as pH and conductivity analysers.

• First line fault finding on analyser systems.

• Working within the Control of Work systems and accompanying SSO’s

• Supervise and facilitate job pack/project packs when required e.g. maintenance of Siemens GC analysers

Experience & Qualifications

• Candidates must hold a minimum of an ONC and a recognised apprenticeship NVQ3 or equivalent.

• Previous experience of working within Chemical/ downstream Oil & Gas or associated major accident hazard process industries

• Good practical understanding of ATEX and DSEAR

• Hold current CompEX certification Ex01 to Ex04.

• Good practical understanding of maintaining safety instrumented systems in line with IEC 61511.

• Exposure to Distributed Control Systems, Honeywell HPM/C300, FSC/SM ESD systems preferable.

• Competent in the use of IT based systems e.g. SAP, CMX, Emersons AMS, E&H Fieldcare.

• Previous experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance on Analysers, GCs, TOC, NIR systems
