  • Work in partnership with Sky Data Architecture to simplify and modernise our data landscape, and take the lead at Directorate level to embed our reference architecture in UK Data
  • Provide leadership to help rationalise our Data Architecture and maximise efficiency; this will include driving the decommissioning of legacy systems and the convergence of analytical, reporting and lab marts and layers
  • Work within the broader department to influence the technical agenda and drive engineering excellence. Act as a champion and ambassador to foster Sky-wide collaboration and accessibility to data.
  • Provide excellent people and technical leadership for Solution Architects, and drive collaboration across all Departments and Engineering teams
Key Skills:
  • Proven experience in development of data products as per requirements
  • Expert and demonstrable technical background in data tools and process
  • Proven experience working with large, complex datasets in a cloud environment such as BigQuery
  • An extensive data analysis & interpretation background in evaluation of data gathered from various sources, helping key partners understand and maximise the potential of Sky's data
  • Exceptional communication & social skills, and have a demonstrable ability to influence technical decisions in a fast-paced commercial environment
  • Self-motivator with energy and drive for continuous improvement and a focus on delivering results
  • Proven ability to influence technical decisions in a fast-moving commercial environment
  • A minimum of 8 years data engineering experience
  • Excellent GCP/Python and/or Node JS 8+ knowledge
  • Experience defining and implementing standards & quality assurance
  • CI/CD experience (ideally with Jenkins)
  • Experience of transforming teams in ways of working to latest methodologies
