Role: Impact Lead, People and Planet First

Start date: June-August (depending on notice period, earlier preferred)

Location: Remote / home-based with some travel required for meetings and events. To be eligible you must be based GMT+/-3 and have the right to live and work where you are based. We have a virtual office with senior team members based in Scotland and Spain. SEWF is a family-friendly organisation that embraces flexible working practices.

Contract: 3-5 days per week. 12-month contract with the possibility of extension or creation of permanent role. Some early mornings and late nights are required for partner meetings due to different time zones. Some long days and weekend work may be required with time off in lieu.

Salary: Competitive. This role could be delivered on a self-employed basis depending on the candidate and at an appropriate day rate. If the successful applicant is not based in the UK or is self-employed in the UK, they will be responsible for their taxation and benefits arrangements.

Role description

As Impact Lead, you will play a pivotal role in the leadership, development and implementation of People and Planet First. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in strategy, innovation and project management. As you will be working on a regular basis with a broad range of partners and stakeholders, the ability to build relationships across countries and cultures remotely is essential.

Main responsibilities

  • Leadership and project management: Lead on the implementation of People and Planet First to achieve the long-term goals. Contribute to strategy development with SEWF leadership colleagues and the network of People and Planet First partners and stakeholders.
  • Advocacy: Represent SEWF and People and Planet First at events, senior level meetings and other opportunities to raise awareness and increase support for the movement.
  • Campaign: Ensure the People and Planet First campaign is effectively delivered to engage consumers, businesses, governments and others in the social economy. 
  • Partnership and stakeholder management: SEWF is the steward of People and Planet First. The identity was developed by working with partners around the world. In this role, you will manage and develop existing and new relationships with partners and other stakeholders. This will include leading community consultations, partner outreach and building the supporter base.
  • Team management and support: This is a new senior role at SEWF and will involve management and support of junior team members, as well as managing any freelancers, contractors and/or consultants involved in People and Planet First. • Impact measurement and reporting: Develop metrics to track progress, measure outcomes and assess effectiveness. 

Experience/skills required

  • Proven experience (4+ years) in strategic leadership role [essential]
  • Fluent in English [essential]
  • Strong project management skills (including team management) with a track record of successfully leading complex initiatives from inception to implementation [essential]
  • Experience of delivering an awareness-raising campaign in the social economy, public sector, or commercial sector [desirable]
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills [essential]
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, innovate and drive change in a dynamic environment [essential]
  • Team player and collaborative mindset [essential]
  • Willingness to work some flexible hours [essential]
  • Interest in social enterprise [essential]
  • Commitment to ethical practices, diversity, equity and inclusion [essential]
  • Language other than English [desirable]
