Head of Environmental Sustainability (12+ month FTC)

Salary: £80k-£85k

Location: England, can be based anywhere in England, but must be happy to commute to one of their UK offices when needed (London & Southampton mainly, and some overseas travel will be required - expenses paid)

PureFuel have partnered with a global professional services organisation who are looking for a Head of Environmental Sustainability to join their team for a 12+ month maternity cover contract.

Reporting into the Group QHSE Director, you will be accountable for leading the development and implementation of this company’s sustainability and environmental strategy, policies and systems.

This position has global coverage, managing key stakeholders up to board level, as well as a team of 5 direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and deliver the verification, analysis and reporting of environmental and sustainability performance, ensuring data is in compliance with the GRI and UNGC reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to annual ESG reporting as well as customer and other campaign communications.
  • Lead and oversee thee emissions reduction plan in line with long term science-based targets and net zero ambitions.
  • Build effective relationships with key internal stakeholders to improve understanding and buy-in to sustainability within the business.
  • Keep up to date with environmental legislation, best practice and industry initiatives, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of sustainable practices.
  • Lead a high performing global team across regional HSE operations, defining QHSE practices and improving process efficiency .
  • Develop and implement programme management tools that enable the tracking of performance reporting and provide Functional dashboards & visualisation tools that enable monthly reporting on project progress

Key skills/experience required:

  • IEMA
  • NEBOSH qualified with significant H&S experience
  • Degree in a relevant field (Sustainability, Environmental Science etc.)
  • Team management
  • Significant experience implementing environmental and H&S management systems, as well as auditing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • Very strong communication skills, experience influencing and inspiring stakeholders at all levels globally
