Central is currently recruiting for a Resettlement Worker, to work in the Newham area. The service provides flexible housing related support to vulnerable clients to enable them to set up and maintain their own accommodation independently and safely. The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM. Temporary cover is required for approximately 4 months. The pay rate for this role is £15.56 per hour, with £1.88 holiday pay, totalling £17.44 per hour. Please note: you will mainly be supporting clients within their own homes and the community. In this position, you will be required to:
- Hold a caseload of 12 key clients and conduct regular key working sessions resulting in client centred support plans
- Complete comprehensive risk and needs assessments and risk management plans
- Attend all resettlement meetings to ensure a seamless transfer of clients, and task allocation
- Work in partnership with other departments to increase client's tenancy management skills, and to support with facilitation of Move-on options
- Identify and build relationships with a range of housing providers to facilitate safe and stable client Move-on options.
- Support clients to maximise their income and offer practical support to facilitate independent living skills such as; paying rent and setting up and managing utilities.
- Facilitate groups, or individualised activities within the service in response to identified client needs
- Work with clients to identify life skills activities that they would like to take part in to prepare them for independence and move through.
- Support clients that are ready to move into work, education, or training by assisting them to access suitable courses or placements.
- Ensure key clients being resettled with arrears have agreed and signed a repayment agreement that is appropriate and affordable
- Monitor rent accounts and addressing arrears with clients to avoid the need for arrears repayment agreements.
- Experience of working with vulnerable clients
- An understanding of the Recovery Model
- The ability to engage and motivate people to move towards independence and inclusion
- An understanding of the private rented sector market and the ability to broker safe and affordable Move-on options
- A good understanding of safeguarding issues and the ability to undertake comprehensive risk assessments related to this
- A working knowledge of Housing Management as applied to a residential setting, and / or client's move on accommodation
- The ability to work in partnership with external stakeholders, particularly community mental health services and/or substance use services.
- The ability to create and deliver SMART Resettlement action plans with clients through high quality risk and needs assessments.
- A level of numeracy to carry out tasks such as budgeting with clients, calculating benefit entitlements and monitoring rent payments.
- Current valid right to work in the UK
- Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
- A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
- Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
