We want you to help us deliver a range of exciting major defence related programmes across the UK. You will be involved with all aspects of safety case support, including:
Shaping the nuclear safety case strategy.
Working closely with project partners to ensure a safety informed design.
Undertaking safety assessments and safety analysis.
Producing safety reports and other technical documents.
Whilst your office base will be in Bristol, Manchester, Aldershot, Silchester or Glasgow, flexibility in work location is a must-from time to time our clients do call on our team to deliver work from their sites.
The role will entail providing safety case support throughout the design life of a facility and/or operation. You will support our clients in managing nuclear safety and ensuring compliance with Licence Conditions and/or Authorisation Condition. Qualitative and Quantitative Hazard Analysis Assessments.
Safety Case Report production (e.g., Support to Engineering Substantiation activities.
Liaison with regulatory organisations (e.g., Development and review of Safety Management Arrangements.
Managing/Leading Safety Case activities and teams.
As a Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer, you will also be expected to:
Assist in the production of bids and proposals to aid business growth.
Implement and contribute to safety initiatives.
Build relationships and networks within AtkinsRéalis, our clients and partners.
You have a proven track record in safety, ideally within the defence and nuclear domain, or other highly regulated industries.
You are ready to make the next step in your career and to join a team that will provide opportunities for growth.
You embrace the digital world and be eager to explore how it can be used in the nuclear safety environment.
You enjoy explaining complex ideas, helping people to ‘get it’, and then watch them go on and achieve more.
You are approachable and can easily build and develop relationships and networks.
Honours Degree (or equivalent) in physics, mechanical engineering, or closely related discipline (2:1 minimum).
Technical practitioner in the Nuclear/Defence domains, able to demonstrate good engineering judgement with experience in applying fundamental engineering principles.
Excellent written skills, and an eye for detail that means you can produce and review high-quality technical reports.
Demonstratable evidence of being a leader of technical teams and development of more junior staff.
Motivated and driven to meet delivery/cost targets without compromising quality.
Awareness of their own technical limitations and using the help and support of others to deliver.
