Contract - Principal Electrical Engineers

At present Wood is looking for Contract - Principal Electrical Engineers to assist us on some of our exciting (FEED) projects both in the UK and overseas. The projects are full-time - 40 hours per week. As many of you maybe aware Wood is a global leader in consulting and engineering, helping to unlock solutions to critical challenges in energy and materials markets. We provide consulting, projects and operations solutions in 60 countries, employing around 35,000 people. We work on some of the largest projects globally with an outstanding list of energy clients. Our projects span the globe and beyond. At present we are seeking to assist our teams in Reading with the hiring of these crucial positions.

Work Scope:
  1. Review design packages for electrical systems and equipment (i.e., Power & Distribution Transformers, motors, generators, high voltage/low voltage switchgear / Motor Control Center (MCC), distribution network, control equipment, power outlets etc.) including drawings, datasheets, detail scope of work, calculations, Bill of Material / Quantity and preliminary cost estimates, Hazardous Area Classification and power System Study
  2. Prepare the Project Design Basis Document as per the project scope
  3. Assist & Prepare the entire project load lists based on the project scope
  4. Produce technical reports for the scope of work, and technical specifications for specific electrical equipment
  5. Assist in the electrical activities of engineering, procurement, and eventual construction (EPC) contractors during the Front-End Engineering Development (FEED) and design phase
  6. Coordinate with Project managers to finalise the Electrical Engineering scope for the entire project / package
  7. Carry out analysis of major equipment selected in the design package
  8. Review and respond to technical and site queries
  9. Experience in project execution in accordance with client’s and worldwide industrial standards
  10. Monitor and review in coordination with client’s PMT the performance and work quality of the contractor
  11. Ensure that the design work by contractor is in accordance with client’s design standards, applicable codes/regulations, and acceptable work practices
  12. Assist the Project Managers and Project Engineers in evaluating Material Requisitions (MR), Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE) and Award Recommendation (AR) provided by Contractor and able to perform Procurement support
  13. Review and evaluate Change Orders to ensure full compliance with standards and that costs are in line with project budget
  14. Work closely with Engineering Teams during the project to ensure facility integrity in terms of HSE
  15. Provide technical assurance for electrical discipline deliverables for projects
  16. Recommend new improvement solutions for installations or modifications to improve existing facilities and standards
  17. Ideally - Good knowledge on Power system automation
