Join our Enabling Functions team as a Buyer supporting our Living Places business unit and you’ll be a big part of fascinating, complex, varied and meaningful work This role is supporting multiple highways maintenance, SCAPE, and public realm contracts, so there is an expectation to travel to stakeholder depots, however, there is flexibility on base location. What you'll be doing The role will be primarily accountable for the management of the end-to-end procurement activities for the sourcing of subcontracts, materials, plant and equipment for various Living Places highways maintenance and public realm contracts. This is an operational, ‘hands on’, tactical role in a fast-paced environment, working closely with commercial and operational colleagues. Activities will include preparation of RFQ’s / ITT’s, management and evaluation of returns, and making sourcing recommendations to award contracts. The individual will be required to manage specific supply chains within the Contract to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement to support Contract and Business Unit key objectives. The role has a requirement to build upon existing supply chain capacity and expertise, develop relationships with new suppliers where appropriate and embed collaborative working both with the customer and the supply chain This role needs a credible ‘doer with the ability to influence to win hearts and minds, whilst focussing on exceeding service expectations by delivering an agile, value adding service, with a good understanding of customer requirements, functional knowledge and process efficiency.
