Head of Health & Safety Office location with Hybrid working: The Head of Health & Safety is a senior leadership role responsible and accountable for Health & Safety compliance across all areas of the business. The role holder will ensure business policy, processes and procedures are in place for the active monitoring of in-life Health and Safety standards for all field and office-based employees, measured clearly with tangible KPIs to record H&S performance and proactively manage H&S risks within the business. The role holder will support and advise all departments up to and including exec level to ensure that Health & Safety legal requirements are adhered to across the organisation, identify and create improvement plans wherever necessary.
Leading the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive Health & Safety strategic frameworks that align with organisational goals and regulatory requirements.
Be accountable for creation, implementation, and onward monitoring H&S policy, process and procedure across the company, inclusive of both field and office-based employees
Accountable for H&S performance against key KPIs
Accountable for capturing, monitoring and mitigating all H&S risks within the business
Lead a safety-first culture across the organisation / promote awareness campaigns to drive engagement in health and safety practices
IOSH Leading Safety
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) – desirable
Up-to-date knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, guidance, and best practice
Training in incident investigation and root cause analysis
Proven experience communicating H&S performance and risk information to executive and board level audiences
Demonstrated leadership in developing, implementing, and continuously improving health and safety policies, systems, and procedures
Ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining a strong focus on health and safety compliance and accuracy
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to clearly convey safety expectations and performance metrics
Influential and credible leader able to engage stakeholders at all levels to embed safety ownership and accountability
Analytical mindset with attention to detail for monitoring safety performance and identifying improvement opportunities
