Job overview

The Cardiovascular CAG is offering an exciting opportunity to join the Barts Heart Centre's Cardiology Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will be responsible for inpatient validation and work closely with the clinical teams in the area and beyond.

The post holder will be required to assist in the running of the admission service and the improvement of services to meet the demand of the service. They are required to make improvements to the service with the guidance of the Deputy Delivery Manager and the clinical teams to improve efficiency and the demand of the service. To ensure that service requirements are met and national targets are adhered to.

North and East London has some of the most dynamic and talented cardiovascular experts nationally and internationally. Clinicians from Barts Health NHS Trust, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) and further afield are working together to create a single specialist centre for cardiovascular disease to cover all our local communities. Main duties of the job
  1. To provide a consistent approach across the trust, standard operating procedures (SOP) will describe how the functions of this role will be carried out along with the timescales that will be adhered.
  2. Liaise with internal and external colleagues to share patient pathway information and diagnostic information, and expedite patient journeys where needed.
  3. To deal with telephone enquiries in an empathetic and productive manner, taking appropriate action to ensure high patient satisfaction.
  4. Keep full electronic record of all patients and maintain Patient Tracking List (PTL).
  5. To complete CAG spreadsheets weekly/daily for admitted patients to ensure that financial implications do not apply.
  6. Play an active role in the correction of outcomes in patient pathways, which may include RTT outcomes, correction of Qlikview.
  7. To cross cover department to ensure service needs are met including wards and Preadmission Clinics, Inter-Hospital Transfers and Scheduling.

  • GCSE A Level or equivalent standard of education
ExperienceEssential criteria
  • Administration/ medical secretarial/ pathway experience or equivalent non NHS
  • Robust understanding of patient pathways and RTT
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant experience of validating pathways.
  • Data Quality improvement experience
SkillsEssential criteria
  • Competent in MS Office software including Excel.
  • Competence with a range of IT Packages specific to the health sector and understanding of how to troubleshoot and work independently as required.
  • Understanding of GDPR and Freedom of Information Act
  • Ability to process and manipulate large amounts of data quickly
Desirable criteria
  • Competent user of CRS /EPR or similar patient record system.
  • Advanced ICT skills
