Head of Composite Design

At Haas, you’ll be involved in many different areas of the team, an assortment of projects and plenty of hands-on experience while collaborating with some of the best minds in the world. Leads, consults and advises Haas F1 on composite design and best practices. Directs a group of designers to develop and continuously improve the car quality, reliability and performance of the composite components. Assists planning and strategy for component/assembly development and race introduction.
Develop staff using effective performance reviews and development plans.
Lead the Composite Design Group in the design of F1 car components/assemblies.
Seek continuous improvement in the design execution and associated processes with prime focus on car performance.
Provide leadership and guidance to the Composite Design Group.
Develop composite design group workload plans in consultation with business partners.
Nurture the relationship with the Aero and Structural design department to support and achieve their targets for quality/compliance/strength/weight targets.
Lead all composite concept development.
Ensure that composite projects are delivered on time as per agreed planning.
Liaise and support the Race Team concerning car reliability resolution.
Responsible for all composite design 3d/2d cad checking and sign-off.
Education and Work Experience:
Graduated in Mechanical engineering with a very strong knowledge of composite materials.
Minimum of 12 years experience working within composite design in F1.
Previous experience as a design project leader for main composite structures – chassis /gearbox/nose/wings.
Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple projects.
Strong English verbal and written communication skills required; Italian language fluency is preferred.
Ability to lead composite design projects from concept to completion.
Prioritizes and pursues vehicle performance.
It will be expected to have a strong knowledge of composite materials and production techniques.
Microsoft Office Suite.
