We have an opportunity for a NEBOSH qualified Health and Safety Advisor with experience in ISO45001 to join a growing chemical manufacturer who have been established for more than 65 years, based in North Shields.This is a full time, permanent role working Monday – Friday 8.30pm OR Monday – Thursday 7.As Health and Safety Advisor, you will report into the Senior HR Business Partner and will control all health, safety and environmental programs and initiatives for this site. You will support and manage regulatory compliance, investigations, audits, and training. As H&S Advisor in this standalone role, you will have no direct reports, however, will be responsible for training and coaching managers on health and safety matters, with a real emphasis on toxic chemicals and manual handling risks. Advising and assisting on the best practice of Health Safety and Environment controls and implementation of initiatives as part of their continuous improvement commitment
Assess potential health and safety hazards.
Assist in incident/ injury investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
Assist in the design and delivery of HSE training programs throughout the Company to ensure compliance against HSE standards, not limited to new hire orientation, compliance, COSHH
Perform daily Safety-Focused Work Inspections of machinery, chemicals, emergency equipment and evacuation as required by the site procedures.
Participate and support program driving participation, data entry, evaluation, and reporting.
Participate in shift meetings.
Maintain training records.
Act as a coach of safety matters and answer questions assisting associates, supervisors, and contractors on HS&E related matters.
Update safety charts and reports as necessary.
Assist with contractor safety requirements.
Educate and train project team members in safety requirements, best practices in incident preventions.
Assist with preparation of hazardous waste shipment.
Experience within a similar Health and Safety position
Proven track record of dealing with all the Health, Safety and Environmental issues within a manufacturing/ industrial organisation
NEBOSH qualified
Knowledge of COSHH and hazardous chemicals
Experience of working within a standalone H&S role on a site of more than 80 employees
Confident in delivering training to senior Managers and colleagues
