Job Description and Responsibilities: As a Senior IT Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of IT services within a well-known Multi Academy Trust based in Birmingham. Your primary responsibility will be to support one of the trust’s secondary schools on-site.

Key aspects of role:

  1. Technical Support: You’ll provide hands-on technical support for the school’s computer systems and applications. This includes troubleshooting, maintenance, and ensuring all systems are operational and stable.
  2. Training and Development: You’ll train and mentor other IT Services Technicians, helping them deliver outstanding services across the trust. Your expertise will contribute to building a robust IT infrastructure.
  3. Helpdesk Management: Monitor helpdesk calls, update requests, and keep users informed. Collaborate with the IT Manager to ensure timely resolution of service requests.
  4. Infrastructure Maintenance: Contribute to the maintenance plan for IT infrastructure and systems. Document and audit system changes effectively.
  5. Education Environment: Ideally, you’ll have experience working within an education environment. You may also cover for the IT Manager when needed.
  6. Maintenance: Maintain school/trust IT systems and network technologies (e.g., Active Directory)

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Previous experience providing IT support.
  • Technical support experience in an education setting.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with school computer systems, applications, and software.
  • Knowledge of IT asset management.
  • Ability to maintain AV systems and equipment.

Successful candidates will undergo a fully Enhanced DBS check and other relevant employment checks.
