Role Title: BUK Principal Engineer - Digital

The BUK Digital Organisation exists to ensure that Barclays Retail Customers experence the best digital banking, delivered with the right fit-for-purpose technology, engineered to the appropriate standards through efficient and effective process, and via an organisation fit from a culture and skills perspective. BUK Digital also ensures we advance group level frameworks in conjunction with CTO partners to ensuring consistent digital experiences across the Barclays group.

About Digital Feature Delivery
Principal Engineers are widely regarded as leading applied experts in their domains, utilizing deep technical expertise to realise material impact at a domain, platform or business unit level. The PE participates in strategic technical discussions with partners and helps shape their technical agenda. The Principal Engineering role within Digital Engineering for BUK is a deep hands-on expert across all aspects of delivering a world class digital banking experience for our retail banking customers . Working with the CIO of the Digital Channels and other Managing Directors for platform and feature engineering, the role will drive the technical improvements in practices, solutions, tooling and environments. In addition, they will develop products, solutions, frameworks, designs and standards, and engage heavily in ensuring continuous improvement of our digital estate. Principal Engineers are also expected to develop and lead a community with their peers, engage in education across our general engineering population, and from time to time take active leadership across engineering teams where improvement is needed.

Accountable for backlog quality and achieving definition of ready and done for prioritised work items

Extensive experience of working within financial services across a number of technology roles
Extensive experience in designing, delivering and fixing large scale software systems
o Application of leading edge leadership and development practiceso Highly organised, diligent and skilled in managing complex projects (strategic and tactical)
