Senior Estimator

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong background in Civil Engineering to lead our estimating efforts. The Senior Estimator will play a key role in analysing project requirements, conducting detailed cost assessments, and preparing accurate estimates for Civil Engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction estimating, exceptional analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of Civil Engineering principles and practices.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the estimating process for Civil Engineering projects, including reviewing project plans, specifications, and contract documents to understand project scope, requirements, and constraints.
- Conduct comprehensive quantity takeoffs, material assessments, and labor analyses for earthwork, concrete, utilities, roadways, and other civil construction components.
- Utilise estimating software, spreadsheets, and historical cost data to develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to validate cost assumptions, solicit input, and ensure accuracy and completeness of cost estimates.
- Analyse project risks, site conditions, and logistical factors to identify potential cost impacts and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Research market prices, material costs, and subcontractor rates to maintain current and accurate pricing data for estimating purposes.
- Prepare bid proposals, including detailed cost breakdowns, pricing schedules, and supporting documentation, in compliance with client requirements and procurement regulations.
- Lead bid review meetings, conduct bid/no-bid analyses, and make recommendations on bid strategy and pricing to senior management.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators, fostering their professional growth and development within the estimating team.
- Collaborate with other departments, including business development, project management, and finance, to support strategic initiatives and improve overall business performance.
