Engineering Manager Location: Hartlepool Our client is currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join their Operations team. The overall purpose of the Engineering Manager role is to provide an engineering lead for the relevant assets ensuring that the assets are maintained in line with statutory requirements and to drive plant availability and reliability improvement. The Engineering Manager is part of the Manufacturing function and reports to the Head of Operations. The Head of Operations is part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at Greatham site and reports to the Site Director. Job responsibilities include: Day-to-day leadership and accountability of the Mechanical, Electrical and Instrument Engineers.: Lead, performance manage, motivate, and develop team members. Provide M/I/E technical direction and instructions for the teams. Completion of EHS incidents, investigation & peer reviews. Ensuring actions and improvements are identified and implemented from incidents. Ownership of recruitment, retention, training and development of technical engineers including succession planning. Complete technical investigations and problem solving, generating, and completing actions that will improve asset availability and reliability. Control the spend within the engineering budget, forecasting spends and justifying deviations again monthly and yearly targets. Drive a culture of continuous improvement to deliver increased availability through the delivery of improvement programmes and the use of innovative engineering solutions to problems. Owns the Reliability workstream of the Greatham Capacity Improvement Programme (GCIP). Responsible for the statutory compliance of the asset including pressure systems and safety instrumented systems. Uphold compliance to the Site, Corporate and National/International Engineering Standards in all applications of plant inspection and maintenance. Responsible for the Asset Management life plan and maintenance strategy. Engage with specialist contractors to determine innovative ways to complete unusual and complex repairs or modifications ensuring detailed technical specifications are produced to allow adequate planning and scheduling. Participate in the development of the site engineering strategy with Head of Operations and the Site Engineering Manager and other Engineering Managers. Develop a suite of KPIs to demonstrate the M/E/I statutory compliance and reliability performance. Lead and influence a positive values-based culture that drives high performance. Candidate requirements: Job-Related work experience, Skills/Knowledge Requirements: Degree in relevant engineering subject (Mechanical/Electrical/Instrument) A Chartered Engineer, or working towards, with equivalent level of demonstrable experience. 5-10 years senior engineering experience, preferably on a manufacturing or engineering asset Ability to develop, lead and motivate others. Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organisation. Ability to manage and work in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment.
