The Role
To be responsible for assessing electrical apprentices as they complete the three-day AM2 practical test at the end of their training. In a typical week you will assess up to six candidates, ensuring they can demonstrate the necessary installation, testing and fault-finding skills to pass the final hurdle before becoming qualified electricians. Working independently in a purpose-built test centre within our Gloucester training centre, youll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the room, welcoming test candidates, conducting assessments and maintaining supplies of the required practical materials.
Having the required electrical qualifications and experience is the main pre-requisite for the role. If you havent worked in an education/assessment role before, full training will be provided to help you make the transition off the tools.
Responsibilities
To follow the AM2 assessment and marking process set out by the awarding body
To provide high quality, meaningful feedback to candidates to help their professional development, within guidance from the awarding body.
To handle any appeals made against assessment decisions.
To maintain high quality records for centre administration, including attendance registers and assessment documents.
To maintain and upgrade test bays in line with awarding body guidance, carrying out repairs where necessary.
To maintain centre resources such as tools and ensure test equipment is appropriately calibrated.
To maintain adequate supplies of materials for the centre, monitoring stock levels and liaising with electrical wholesalers.
To continuously develop your own electrical knowledge, maintaining awareness of new technologies.
To undertake any other reasonable duties as may be required by the Head of Training in order to ensure the efficient functioning of the training centre.
To deliver other qualifications such as the NICEIC Domestic Ventilation qualification, if the opportunity to take on a broader role would be desired.
To adhere to Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding and Prevent policies and procedures.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification
A minimum of five years electrical experience (post qualification). A wide range of experience of working on a variety of installations is desirable.
Current ECS Electrician Grade Card
Desirable Qualifications (all of these will need to be completed on starting the role, if not already held):
Level 3 in Assessing
First Aid at Work
2382-18 18 th Edition Wiring Regulations
2391 Inspection & Testing
Soft Skills and Personal Attributes:
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong IT skills, including the use of Microsoft programs
Strong organisational skills, including the ability to time manage and prioritise effectively
Excellent level of attention to detail
Ability to work independently for the majority of the time, whilst contributing to team effort when required
Approachable, enthusiastic and supportive with a professional attitude
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with colleagues and candidates.
