The University is seeking a Deputy Head of Assurance to play a pivotal role in enhancing the University’s assurance and risk management activities. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance on audit and assurance matters, monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and lead on the development of aspects of the University’s assurance framework. This includes managing the University’s annual assurance statements process to provide assurance over devolved activities that ensure compliance with legal or regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will have experience of contributing to or working within a risk, audit, compliance or assurance function in a large organisation. You will also need strong organisational and project management skills, and the ability to prioritise work to meet regulatory and other deadlines. We aim to support a good work/life balance, whilst retaining the positive aspects of our unique in-person environment and culture. Elements of this role are suitable for hybrid working, where staff can split their time between in-person collaboration and remote working. Most of our team work in a hybrid fashion, with an average of 2-3 days per week being office based (pro rata for part-time staff). The frequency and pattern of the remote elements of the role can be discussed with the recruiting manager.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records) check and a security check.
