We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the South West , who are recruiting for a locum Childcare Lawyer to join the team for 6-months initially.
The role offers hybrid working with a mix of virtual and attended hearings, and a rate in the region of £50 p/hour UMB, negotiable subject to PQE.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Providing a comprehensive legal service on all aspects of child protection work to the Children, Young People and Families Directorate and to the Council
- Handling a personal portfolio of child care cases to a high standard of professional practice
- Representing the Council in attended hearings concerning children in the Family Court
- Briefing Counsel on behalf of the Council in the Family Court, and obtaining Counsel’s opinion on any relevant matters relating to children’s proceedings
- Advising on, negotiating and drafting legal documents to give effect to decisions of the Client Directorate and the Council
