In consultation with the Cleaning Supervisor, the cleaner will identify any cleaning issues and put in the required cleaning process to rectify, as well as monitoring stocks of cleaning equipment and materials so orders can be placed on a timely basis.
To be responsible for cleaning certain parts of the school site as allocated by the cleaner in charge (this will vary from time to time), usually working with another member of the cleaning team.
To use cleaning materials as instructed by the caretaker.
To operate cleaning machinery in cleaning soft and hard surfaces, e.g. vacuum cleaners, and polishers.
Vacuum cleaning hard and soft floors.
Spot cleaning of spillages.
Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors and polishing door glass and windows.
Emptying and cleaning waste and recycling bins.
Cleaning toilets including sanitary fittings and surrounds.
Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces.
Wiping and polishing and straightening furniture.
Checking and closing windows, switching off lights after work.
During holiday periods when the school is closed, or annual deep cleans routine cleaning is undertaken throughout the school. This may include stripping and sealing floors, removing chewing gum, high level dusting, wall washing, moving furniture to deep clean classrooms, etc.
All defects/hazards must be immediately reported to the Cleaner in charge.
To ensure that all Health & Safety procedures are followed, in accordance with company policies.
Undertake any additional cleaning duties as directed, by the Cleaning Supervisor or Soft Services Manager.
Experience in a cleaning environment, preferably multi-site.
Reliable, Term Time employees must be available to work all Term Time Dates Required.
A commitment to continuing professional development in relation to themselves and their team members.
A flexible and proactive approach to work.
The post holder requires a basic knowledge of Health & Safety Requirements & the safe use of chemicals and equipment and security policies and procedures which can be gained from an initial induction and on the job training.
