Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing electrical engineering projects related to the design, installation, and commissioning of baggage handling systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering projects from concept to completion, including design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of baggage handling systems
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Conduct site surveys and assessments to gather requirements, identify technical constraints, and propose suitable solutions.
  • Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for electrical systems and components, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors involved in electrical installation and integration activities, ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including mechanical engineers, software engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with overall project requirements.
  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and compliance with performance requirements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to onsite personnel, including installation technicians, maintenance staff, and operators, to facilitate smooth project execution and operation.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays and ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Prepare project documentation, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and customers to communicate project status, achievements, and lessons learned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • An industry applicable Electrical Engineering qualification ONC/HNC/B.Eng.
  • Proven experience in electrical engineering project management, preferably in the airport or transportation industry.
  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles, standards, and practices, with expertise in power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in EPLAN, AutoCAD or similar design software for creating electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards, such as BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), Functional Safety and CDM Regulations.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex technical issues and develop innovative solutions.
  • Project management certification (e.g., Prince2, PMP) is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across the UK and internationally.
