Gas & Power Commodities Operations Analyst

This presents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Gas & Power Commodities Operations Analyst to join as an additional member of the Commodities team. As an Operations Analyst, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Commodities traders and ensuring smooth execution of physical commodity transactions.

This hedge fund invests across various asset classes, including Equity, Fixed Income, FX, Derivatives, Commodities, and Cryptocurrencies. As part of the supportive Operations function, you will bring:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the full lifecycle, including aligning physical positions with trading desk strategy, maintaining processes for seamless nomination of gas and power positions, overseeing storage and capacity purchases, monitoring physical deliveries, and efficiently responding to grid operator information.
  • Collaboration with gas and power traders to optimise and balance physical positions through spot trading on exchanges and OTC markets.
  • Balancing European gas and power positions resulting from desk activity.
  • Mitigation of exposure to imbalances.
  • Reconciliation of positions across multiple desks for maximum netting benefit.
  • Resolution of queries between internal systems, trading desks, brokers, exchanges, and clearers.
  • Accurate and timely scheduling of daily physical gas and power positions.
  • Investigation of any breaks between positions with counterparties

To be considered, candidates will be proactive team players with a circa 1-3 years gas & power operations experience demonstrating a genuine enthusiasm for working in gas & power commodity operations is essential.
