What is the role?
We are looking foran experienced Commercial Director to join the Commercial Team. Thisrole reports to the Managing Director.
The purpose of the roleis to develop and implement commercial strategies according to companyguidelines and goals while inputting into land appraisals forpotential new developments. The role has overall responsibility forthe management and performance of the commercial and buying functions.
The role will include:
- Manage, report and cost control all contracts associatedwith developments across the remit of the Operating Company, includingimplementing cost saving solutions, to ensure Group set budgets arenot exceeded, allowing maximum company profits.
- Contributetowards land appraisals and the tender process to ensure thecommercial viability of any future developments.
- Provideaccurate and timely management information on a regular basis toenable the formulation of the appropriate strategy and aid decisionmaking in line with the objectives of the Operating Company.
- Manage the team effectively, including setting clearobjectives, conducting professional development reviews, coaching andtraining to ensure employees achieve both their full potential andcompany targets.
- Establish and maintain long-termrelationships with current and prospective clients in order to keepbusiness growth opportunities in the pipeline, with the goal ofincreasing the financial and commercial position of the company.
- Conduct regular market research and analysis of the externalenvironment to develop business plans for commercial opportunities andallow prompt appropriate response to external influences e.g. changinggovernment policy, Brexit.
- Advocate the Group Health, Safetyand Environment Policy while ensuring compliance throughout the teamto ensure health and safety standards are met.
What we need from you?
- Previousexperience within the housebuilding industry is essential
- Experienced in ownership of financial models
- Strongunderstanding of legislation and the construction market
- Experience renegotiating large scale, high value and complexcontracts
- Extensive commercial experience
- Excellentcommunication skills, both written and verbal
- RelevantApprenticeship/Undergraduate/Postgraduate or equivalentqualifications
- Full UK Driving Licence is required
- Experience of using COINS is advantageous
