Role: Embedded software engineer

Location: Shepton Mallet, Somerset

Salary: £70,000 approx

Officer Hours:

Start between 7:30am-9am, Monday to Friday, Finish between 4.00pm-6.00pm Monday to Thursday, 2.00pm Friday Hybrid working (currently 3x days + in the office per week)

Daily Roles:

• Full life cycle software engineering

• Requirement elicitation, high level design, development, test documentation.

• Maintenance and enhancement of existing products including direct 3rd line support for client’s engineers and technicians and Field Service Engineers.

• Development of new products.

• Software build management.

• Supervision of Junior Software Engineers.

Initial project:

• Support for new system development.

• Maintenance and enhancement of existing products

• Requirement and design specifications.

• Development, proving and test reports.

• Help topics and operational manuals.

Key Skills:

• Broad software development experience. real time processes, database,

• GUI development, Qt

• C++/C,

• Linux or Windows development environment – inter process comms – RPM/Installer

• TCP, Serial comms.

Desirable skills:

  • Embedded, 32-bit microcontroller, ARM, PIC.
  • GUI development.
  • Java, Python, PHP, SQL, BASH, HTML.
  • Subversion.
  • PostgreSQL/SQLite
  • Eclipse, Visual Studio
  • Autotools.
  • I2C, One Wire comms, PCI Bus.
