We are currently recruiting for a residential children's home located in the picturesque town of Leiston, near the Suffolk Coast. Their mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children aged 9-17 who experience social, emotional, mental health, and behavioural difficulties. Their 4-bed home offers personalised care and support, aiming to help each child achieve their full potential.
Role Overview: As the Deputy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Home Manager to ensure the smooth running of the home. You will oversee the daily operations, manage staff, and provide high-quality care to our children. Your responsibilities will include administrative tasks, staff supervision, and direct engagement with the children to foster a positive and therapeutic environment.
Hours:
Office Days: 3 days per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
Shifts: 2 shifts per week, hours to be arranged
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Home Manager in the overall management of the home
Oversee and coordinate care plans tailored to each child’s needs
Manage and support a team of care staff, ensuring high standards of practice
Conduct staff supervisions, appraisals, and training
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements
Engage in direct work with the children, providing emotional and practical support
Liaise with external agencies, professionals, and families
Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures
Monitor and report on the home’s performance, including incident management
Participate in the on-call rota as required
To manage petty cash and purchasing as necessary
To provide on-call support on a rotational basis
Requirements:
Education: Level 3 or 4 qualifications in working with children and young people
Experience: Significant experience in a residential childcare setting
Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
Driving Licence: Essential
Commitment: Willingness to work towards Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
Flexibility: Ability to work office hours and arranged shifts
