Themis Recruit are looking for a proactive and talented Dispute Resolution Solicitor with 1-3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to join our dynamic Dispute Resolution team. The successful candidate will handle a broad range of disputes, working closely with clients to resolve their legal issues efficiently and effectively, including but not exclusive to: commercial property, residential property, contentious probate, insolvency and bankruptcy, contract disputes, professional negligence and debt recovery. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management:

    • Handle a varied caseload of dispute resolution matters, including commercial disputes, contract disputes, property disputes, and debt recovery.
    • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and prepare case strategies.
    • Liaise with clients, providing clear, practical, and commercially sound legal advice.
  • Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution:

    • Represent clients in court proceedings, arbitration, and mediation sessions.
    • Prepare pleadings, witness statements, and other court documents.
    • Advise clients on the merits and risks of litigation versus alternative dispute resolution methods.
  • Client Relationship Management:

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and objectives.
    • Ensure clients are kept informed about the progress of their cases and provide regular updates.
    • Work to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients while managing their expectations effectively.
  • Negotiation:

    • Engage in settlement negotiations with opposing parties.
    • Draft and review settlement agreements.
    • Strive to resolve disputes amicably and cost-effectively wherever possible.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all casework.
    • Identify and mitigate risks associated with dispute resolution matters.
  • Business Development:

    • Support the team in business development activities, including attending networking events and contributing to marketing initiatives.
    • Identify opportunities to cross-sell the firm’s services to existing and potential clients.
    • Assist in the preparation of articles and updates for the firm’s website and newsletters.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm to provide a seamless service to clients.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the department’s processes and practices.
    • Provide support and guidance to junior team members and administrative staff as required.

Requirements
  • Education: Qualified Solicitor with a current practicing certificate.
  • Experience: 1-3 years PQE in dispute resolution or litigation.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and prioritize effectively.
    • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Proficiency in legal research and drafting.
    • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
