We’re looking to appoint an exceptional Associate Director, Products and Services Technology.
Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and we will also try our best to consider those intending to work a job share . Whilst this is a temporary position for 2 years, there is potential for it to develop into a permanent position. At the Met Office we achieve our purpose of helping people make better decisions to stay safe and thrive by delivering 24x7 digital and advice based services to customers across the UK and globally. Our technology is fundamental to ensuring we consistently deliver these critical services whilst also enabling us to drive innovation for our customers. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership to the teams who deliver the trusted technology services that underpins the Met Office product and service portfolio, helping us achieve our purpose through greater impact and benefit for the UK.
Being an active member of the Extended Leadership Team supporting the delivery of strategy for the whole Met Office
•Working with the CTO and wider Technology leadership team to develop and maintain Met Office technology strategy to meet the needs of the organisation
•Ensuring effective development, operation and lifecycle management of technology services in line with defined service level agreements
•Working with customers and senior stakeholders across the organisation to ensure the technology services provided are aligned to customer need
•Maintain awareness of relevant developments in the wider industry and champion their application into the Met Office to help develop innovative solutions
The Met Office is accredited as a 'Great Place to Work UK 2023' and in addition has achieved a place on both the UK's 'Best Workplaces in Tech' and 'Best Workplaces for Women' lists.
As our Associate Director Products and Services Technology, your total reward package will be up to £103,223 annually, which includes:
•An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27%
•Recruitment Retention Allowance (RRA) you will be paid £4,200 per annum as a market supplement to reflect the demand for your skills. Whilst in post, you will be paid this market driven allowance from April 2024 until September 2025 in your monthly pay
•Relocation Assistance may be available
•Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave
Professional qualification or chartered accreditation in technology or with associated relevant experience (We're experts by nature)
Experience of leading large technology teams (100+) empowering autonomy and fostering active collaboration . (Financial literacy – proven track record of managing a significant budget (£10 million+) within agreed limits and experience of budgeting and forecasting processes
