The Company Our client is a market leading, forward thinking, technical contractor with over 20 years within the construction industry; as a business they have an extensive portfolio and order book generating a multi-million-pound turnover. They deliver an array of industrial and logistics developments worldwide and continue to up-hold a strong sense of social responsibility through their innovative construction techniques and policies. The Project As an experienced Health & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in leading the overall safety and well-being of the project team and site operations on a new build industrial development in excess of £50m in East Yorkshire. You will mitigate potential risks, implement a safe working environment and uphold strict compliance with Health and Safety regulations and laws throughout the lifecycle of the project. Requirements For this role it is essential that you carry the following professional qualifications as a minimum; First Aid CSCS Card The ideal candidate will carry a recognised body Health & Safety Qualification such as; a Masters, Bachelor's Degree, NVQ, or NEBOSH IOSH Membership - not essential but is advantageousIt is also essential that you hold the experience below; Extensive background within the industry with at least 5 years of experience working in a similar position for a leading contractor or subcontractor Proven experience of working on projects within the industrial sector is highly desirable however all candidates with a demonstrated history of working in a Health & Safety position on major/ large scale developments are of interestAdditional skills; IT Skills Thorough attention to detail Quality & Risk management Analytical and problem-solving abilities Significant policy development and implementation skills Strong ability to lead and manage health and safety teams Thorough understanding of construction laws and regulations Effective and efficient communication skills; verbal and written Competent in developing emergency response plans and procedures In depth understanding of relevant health and safety regulations and lawsThe Role Job Title: Health and Safety Manager Job Type: Fixed Term Contract Duration: 16 Months Project: New Build Industrial Development in excess of £50m Location: East Riding of Yorkshire Reporting to: Project DirectorDuties Regularly liaise and report to Project Director Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards Promote and implement sustainable health and safety practices Oversee effective communication of health and safety information Create and enforce measures to control and mitigate identified risks Offering staff training on health and safety procedures and regulations Keep precise records of incidents, inspections, and regulatory compliance Guarantee effective implementation of policies throughout the organisation Offer guidance and advice to employees regarding health and safety matters Deliver routine updates on health and safety performance to senior management Design and deliver health and safety training programs for employees at all levels Implement and perform routine health and safety inspections within the workplace Keep up to date with health and safety legislation and all relevant laws and regulations Execute internal audits, confirming compliance with health and safety standards and policies Oversee the budget for health and safety programs, ensuring efficient utilization of resources Regularly evaluate and update risk assessments and control measures to ensure they remain effective Create and execute emergency response plans and procedures, encompassing evacuation protocols, first aid measures, and emergency drills Coordinate and lead health and safety committee gatherings to involve employees in safety practices and discussions Develop detailed health and safety policies that adhere to legal requirements and are customized to meet the unique needs of the organisation Consistently evaluating and updating health and safety programs to address emerging risks and enhance workplace safety This is a long fixed-term position with an excellent salary + package on offer for the successful candidate.
