Principal Safety Engineer, Defence Aviation
RINA is looking for a highly experienced Air Safety Engineering Consultant to join a specialist and growing team working for Defence clients across all aviation platforms including unmanned, fixed wing and rotary. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop and shape RINA’s Safety Engineering and/or ISA capability, providing the Defence sector and the Military Aviation Authority (MAA) with world class safety advisory services. This role can be based out of our Chippenham, Lincoln or Leatherhead offices though RINA is smart/hybrid working organisation, so living within commuter distance of the office is not necessarily required. Moderate travel across the UK is required though. Despite being a permanent position, we will also consider a part-time (PAYE) role (i.e. You will lead a variety of Safety Engineering projects to ensure requirements are delivered on time, to budget, and to the required quality;
You will manage projects either as an individual or managing a small team;
Support with bids, proposals, analysis and report writing;
Promote RINA’s Safety capability to customers, providing expert counsel, through face-to-face liaison, relationship building and presentations;
Assist the Safety management team with augmenting safety capability to meet new and emerging market demands;
This is not a Health & Safety (HSE) role.
At least ten years’ experience in the application of safety engineering management solutions is high hazard environments;
Knowledge of UK MOD (Defence) air platforms, Air Traffic Management (ATM), or the MAA;
Experience in conducting Hazard & Safety Risk Analysis or Independent Safety Assurance (ISA) projects and have developed safety cases;
Experience in the use and application of Safety Engineering tools such as Reliability Workbench, ASCE, BowTie, ETA or FTA;
Some working knowledge of the following Defence Standards: Def Stan 00-056, Def Stan 00-970 series, ARP 4754 or ARP 4761;
You will have an engineering background;
