The Trust is seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant Gastroenterologist to continue the development of the gastroenterology and endoscopy services at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 12 month fixed term post. Experience in Endoscopic Ultrasound would be desirable.
The posts are offered on a full-time basis however, the Trust would welcome discussion with individuals looking for a more flexible working pattern to support a different work life balance.
Along with this flag ship service, the Trust also provides a full range of gastroenterology services including upper and lower endoscopy, ERCP, specialist inflammatory bowel disease clinics, a hepatology service and an anaemia clinic. The Consultants will be expected to undertake outpatient clinics, endoscopy and review inpatients on the ward. There will also be a commitment to the 'consultant of the week' model where there is a designated consultant for the management and prioritisation of GI bleeds in hours and the newly appointed Consultant will be expected to participate on the Out of Hours Upper GI bleed rota.
Aspects of the role will be undertaken in our modern operating theatres and newly refurbished day treatment centre and endoscopy suite, with upgraded digital imaging facilities.
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.

9 PAs for Direct Clinical Care (DCC) including outpatient clinics, endoscopy and admin
Commitment to clinical risk management and the implementation of clinical governance
Appropriate experience in upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and colonoscopy
An appropriate higher degree (e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent)
Subspecialist training e.g. Research leading to MD or PhD

Evidence to allow accreditation as a Consultant Clinical Supervisor for trainee doctors with the GMC

Special interest in role development and staff training
Membership of relevant medical associations/learned societies
Meets professional health requirements (in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice)
Full driving licence
