Inspect, support, modify, assemble, maintain, and repair all mechanical aspects of FOM equipment (in the UK and abroad), including rapid fault finding, evaluation and diagnosing of problems that occur in an accurate and timely manner (mechanical fitter).
Understand and produce high quality products from mechanical drawings provided
Travel to events abroad as Maintenance Technician when required; assist co-ordinate rigging and de-rigging mechanical equipment and structures as required. This will consist of heavy race support travel and is a core travelling role.
Maintain and keep in good order department tools including power tools also maintain Mechanical Engineering stores and prepare components to be sent to an event.
Support and feedback into the drawing office when required and assist in development of prototypes.
To complete all mandatory training within specified timelines.
Ability to read and understand mechanical layout and engineering drawings.
Ability to diagnose and rectify mechanical faults and willingness to undertake repair work.
Ability to weld using MIG, TIG, arc and Gas welding and cutting equipment.
Aware of machine shop and fabrication techniques.
Excellent computer literacy.
Familiar with a comprehensive range of materials, manufacturing processes, adhesives, and mechanical fixings
Must have the ability to compile technical reports with associated drawings as required, pertaining to mechanical systems or operations.
Carrying out unplanned maintenance as required
AutoCAD (2D)
Able to manage multiple projects concurrently
Able to feedback to the drawing office with design modification and change requests
You will need to have current UK driving license in this role. Apprenticeship or recognized qualification (NVQ 3, BTEC level 3 or degree in a mechanical engineering environment.
Qualified to operate Forklift and Merlot, Cherry Picker and Scissor Lift.
